GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

1.         SOURCES:

·                    FIVE (5) or more different sources

·                    May be a book, pamphlet, documentary film, newspaper or magazine article, or article from database

2.         BIBLIOGRAPHY CARDS:

·                    FIVE (5) or more cards that list the sources you are using

·                    ONE for each source <or>

·                    Working Bibliography from EasyBib

3.         NOTE CARDS/COPIES OF SOURCES:

·                    35 total examples of notetaking may be a combination of copies with notes and note cards.

·                    Any Xeroxed sources must be marked by underlining or highlighting with main ideas written in margins

·                    Note cards

o       Must have “slug” or subject in top left corner.

o       Only one idea per card – written on one side.

o       Must have author’s name and page number at bottom.

4.         OUTLINE:

·                    Must use Roman numeral format.

·                    Must include main ideas of body paragraphs.

·                    If you use a “1”, you must have a “2”.

5.         FINAL COPY:

·                    3-5 pages TYPED

·                    Double spaced

·                    12 point font (Times New Roman) – no bold or italic

·                    One-inch margins

·                    Full heading and original title on first page

·                    MLA style – internal documentation and works cited page

 

All requirements must be completed and turned in when due. Final papers with missing elements will be considered incomplete. Late penalties will be assessed for those not turned in on the assigned day (-10 points 1 day, -20 for 2 days, -30 for 3 days). Four days late is UNACCEPTABLE—NO CREDIT.

 

Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Remember that this is when someone takes another person’s words or ideas and uses them as their own, without giving the original author credit. Plagiarism will result in a zero for the entire assignment and all associated grades.

 

The checkpoint days are designed to help you keep up with the writing process of the research paper. Following these guidelines will prevent you from turning in late work. I strongly suggest complete adherence to all DUE DATES.
